Figure Skating Coaches

Before booking a freestyle session, please review the following important details.

Freestyle sessions require advance online registration. Walk-ins are not permitted, so please reserve your ice time prior to arrival.

These sessions are not public skating. Freestyle ice is designated exclusively for figure skaters. Participation is limited to skaters who are either:

  • taking a scheduled lesson with an approved coach, or
  • enrolled in Learn to Skate and certified at Basic 5 level or higher.

Skaters attending freestyle sessions without a coach must hold a valid Learn to Skate USA (LTS USA) membership and meet the minimum skill requirement. This ensures a safe and structured training environment for everyone on the ice.

If you are booking a private or semi-private lesson, please coordinate scheduling and lesson fees directly with your coach. Ice time fees are charged separately.

All skaters are expected to follow standard freestyle rink etiquette, including awareness of other skaters, yielding to those in programs, and respecting shared ice space.

  • Pro-Rated Enrollment: Tuition is adjusted based on the number of remaining classes at the time of registration.

Aviator Sport Club features two NHL-sized ice rinks, offering figure skaters some of the finest training facilities in the New York metropolitan area.

Our rinks are maintained to the highest standards, with smooth, freshly resurfaced ice designed to support jumps, spins, and advanced footwork.

The facility’s high ceilings and open hangar-style layout — a legacy of the historic airplane hangars at Floyd Bennett Field — create a bright, spacious, and inspiring training atmosphere unlike traditional indoor rinks.

With excellent lighting, professional conditions, and ample space, Aviator provides an ideal environment whether you are preparing for competition, progressing through Learn to Skate levels, or refining your skills.

Freestyle sessions operate in a shared-ice format. Skaters of varying ages and skill levels may be present during the same session.

For safety and comfort, all participants must wear appropriate figure skating equipment and follow posted rink rules at all times.

Aviator Sport Club reserves the right to adjust session capacity, ice schedules, or access requirements as needed to maintain a safe and high-quality training environment.
